Our Circle sits outside that problem. Following a formal review by outside counsel, Our Circle is neither a covered entity nor a business associate under HIPAA, and HIPAA does not apply to our operations. Your organization can host a private group and control who is invited, while families join on their own and decide for themselves what they share and who they connect with.

Why social health matters.
Belonging is protective. Research on social connection consistently associates strong relationships with lower rates of anxiety and depression, and connectedness is one of the recognized protective factors against suicidality in young people. Isolation carries the opposite risk, for children and for the parents caring for them.
For families raising children with support needs, those friendships can be harder to come by, not for lack of wanting them. Finding families who understand the routines takes time that most families do not have much of.
